Sniper Elite 4 is set in Italy in 1943, in the immediate aftermath of the events in Sniper Elite III. Cooperative missions and competitive multiplayer modes are reintroduced. The game's new movement system allows Fairburne to climb and grab ledges. Maps in the game are significantly larger than Sniper Elite III, granting players more freedom and open-ended gameplay. The game also features night missions, in which the player can remove light sources to hide their presence. The player can place traps and use corpses as booby traps. Killing the officer as early as possible will lead his army to retreat, while killing him by the end of a mission will significantly increase the level's difficulty. The player is equipped with a pair of binoculars, which shows the player where the enemies are and what weapons they are carrying, as well as the ability to tag opponents and objects. When an enemy is killed, other enemies will begin actively looking for them. The game's artificial intelligence is improved, with enemies being able to react to the player's action more responsively. The system has also been expanded to include shrapnel kills, melee kills and stealth kills. When the player kills an enemy using a sniper rifle from a long distance, the X-Ray kill cam system will activate, in which the game's camera follows the bullet from the sniper rifle to the target, and shows body parts, bones or internal body organs being broken or ruptured by the bullet. Sniper Elite 4 is a tactical shooter game with stealth elements, played from a third-person perspective. It all has a kind of old school vibe.The player using the X-Ray kill cam system Co-op multiplayer is the headline here and it’s a welcome addition, especially with its insert / drop mechanic. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is a bit of a crossroads for the series. It all combines well with the dramatic soundtrack playing in the background. The humor from the previous games is still present and there are some funny lines crammed into it. The sound effects are excellent, with powerful voice acting and satisfying blasts and explosions. Everything is very dynamic and looks like a movie.
Still, camera angles work particularly well, turning to focus on the action.
When all four of the main characters are in action – and all confined to a single screen – it feels a bit crowded and those bullets get a bit harder to dodge. The screen is constantly filling up with bullets and bad guys, blowing up items and crates. Some enemies are also fantastic and well drawn, requiring different techniques to defeat them. Animated backgrounds also add a lot of depth. It’s an engaging game – maybe a bit too busy at times – but colorful and beautifully drawn, with great tones and colors. With a few other allies on board, however, everything improves tenfold. If you can’t find colleagues to play with, the AI provides decent support on your quest. Played alone, the levels and enemies are varied enough to keep you entertained, but it’s the multiplayer aspect that really injects the excitement. As always, Insomniac has also been packed with awesome – and bizarre – gadgets and weapons to wield – from the Vac-U 4000 to launch your teammates across different platforms, to the Pyroblaster, Frost Cannon, Warmonger, Blitzer, and Arc Lasher. This means that the unlikely group of Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Dr Nefarious must work together to find out what is going on and rid the world of a strange machine, the Ephemeris Creature Collector, and whoever is in control of it! The Collector seizes the most dangerous beasts in the universe and deposits them on an already hostile planet.Īs you would expect from the series, it’s packed with hopping, swinging, crashing, and shooting.
